Through their fame and recognition, hundreds of celebrities mobilize efforts for the welfare of society. As UNICEF ambassadors, many artists support the human rights of children and adolescents around the world.

UNICEF is a United Nations (UN) program with a presence in 190 countries. Through different initiatives, it has been dedicated to defending the rights of children for 70 years. The first UNICEF ambassador was actor Danny Kaye. This program allows celebrities to link their good intentions to the goals of the organization.

Famous UNICEF ambassadors

Zendaya

Actress and singer Zendaya joined UNICEF through Trick or Treat, an initiative that has more than 67 years of tradition. Through Trick or Treat UNICEF, families around the world raise funds for children in need.

Donations of medicines, drinking water and food are also accepted. The 18-year-old actress confessed that in her childhood she had participated in this initiative through her school, perhaps that is why she did it again later.

Selena Gomez

Singer and actress Selena Gomez is one of the UNICEF ambassadors of her generation. Selena joined the Tap Project initiative to provide drinking water to more than 900 million children and adults around the world. Additionally, she has traveled much of Africa as a collaborator of the UN program.

Initially, the Tap Project allied with celebrities and restaurants with the same interest in fundraising. The initiative consisted of paying for the glass of water taken directly from the pipeline. In its current version, Tap Project invites donors to take off their smartphones to contribute to the cause. The less the person interacts with their mobile, the greater the contribution.

Celebrity Tap is the campaign led by singer Taylor Swift as a UNICEF ambassador. This initiative is a version of the Tap Project. Thanks to Celebrity Tap, her fans around the world have the opportunity to drink water from their idols’ pipes.

The contribution is made through the purchase of bottled water. Each container is filled in the celebrity’s home and has their image, then is made available to the public.

Shakira another of UNICEF’s ambassadors

Colombian singer Shakira is known for being one of UNICEF’s ambassadors in Latin America. Together with her husband Piqué, she participated in a virtual Baby Shower during the pregnancy of her first child.

This initiative allowed fans to purchase gifts to improve the lives of children around the world. Through it, they were able to collect various donations such as vaccines, food and supplies.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is recognized for her social work worldwide. Not only has it supported child aid programs, but it has also adopted several children as part of its actions. In addition, she is an activist for women’s rights.
