Mothers Don’t Sleep, They Are Always Alert

Since giving birth, a mother develops the ability to rest without completely disconnecting from the world or her little one.
Mothers do not sleep, they are always alert

Mothers don’t sleep. As soon as they give birth, wakefulness takes a leading role in their state of consciousness, over and above the much-needed rest. The neurocognitive functions of women who become mothers remain fully active all the time, even when their eyes are closed and they are at rest.

It is unique what happens with mothers. Those wonderful beings who have unmatched heart, courage and stamina. As if their son’s arrival in the world had given them some kind of superpowers.

Why is it said that mothers do not sleep?

It is said that mothers do not sleep because, to a large extent, it is true. Otherwise no one would dare to make a statement that goes so against human nature, if we consider that sleep is a basic need. We all need hours of sleep and rest to recharge and live.

Mothers don't sleep, they are always there for their children.

How is it possible that this happens to mothers? In the metaphorical sense. When a woman becomes a mother, she immediately develops a capacity that allows her to rest without the need to completely disconnect from the world around her. World that, after delivery, focuses on the crib that is found night after night next to her bed.

There is no movement of her child, moan or breath that she does not feel and makes her regain full consciousness even if she has just gone to sleep. Mothers have the gift of listening and understanding their baby more than anyone; and they know what he needs without even looking at him. With the room in darkness and the eyes closed they rest in unwavering alertness.

Why is it said that mothers are always on the alert?

Mothers are said to be always on the alert because it is real too. They are prepared to face both eventualities and those situations that are daily for them:

  • When the baby cries because of colic.
  • Every time the diaper needs to be changed.
  • If you feel unwell after receiving a vaccination.
  • When the baby claims to be breastfed.
  • When he cries because he has woken up and needs to be put back to sleep.
  • Every time the newborn wants to be taken out of the crib and held in their arms.

A mother is always there in case her baby needs her. She knows how he likes things done for him, that’s why she is the one with whom he feels most comfortable and safe.

For mothers there are no inopportune moments. If the child needs attention, even if it’s two in the morning, they get up ready to help him.

Mothers do not sleep, they are always alert

Mothers do not sleep, they are always alert because it is easy for them, it is natural for them, it comes from within. They may be exhausted to the point of passing out on the floor, stressed so that they can barely think, or melancholic. But still, they always manage to gather their strength and get ahead.

Perhaps their days have changed greatly and the life they have today is very different from the one they had before. That is why they cry sometimes and feel sad. You, who are a mother, know what I’m talking about. Moods fluctuate in you almost as they did during your pregnancy.

Mothers do not sleep, they are always there for their children.

That gift to recover and gather strength is extraordinary. And only women who are mothers and who know that there are one or more children who depend on them have it.

They cry, yeah. They get depressed, too. They tire like no one else, but they remain firm and feel happy for the grace of having brought into the world a creature, a human being whom they have the honor and duty to care for.

Mothers are special beings endowed with colossal strength who can spend the first years of their children’s lives without hardly sleeping soundly. In fact, it is said that once you give birth to a child, you never sleep well again.

Mom, life thanks you for your integrity, perseverance and patience. For all the sacrifice you make every day: day or night, putting the well-being of your little one above vital desires and needs.

Maternal love, choose to be happy
