Creativity is an innate capacity of the human being, but to achieve its full development it is essential to stimulate it during childhood. For this reason, in the following lines we present some creativity dynamics to put into practice with children, both at home and at school.

Before talking about the importance of creativity and how to work it, you have to know what this concept refers to. Thus, according to the psychologist Joy Paul Guilford, being creative implies the presence of three skills: fluency (finding many solutions to the same problem), flexibility (proposing different solutions) and originality (thinking in an unusual way).

So, below, we tell you how to stimulate these skills. Take note!

The importance of stimulating creativity in childhood

Creativity implies expressing yourself freely and without limits. To encourage this from an early age, it is necessary for children to grow up in a climate of respect and security in which they can unleash their imagination. Which is not only beneficial for them on a personal level, but also socially, since the fact of enhancing creativity allows

  • Develop self-esteem.
  • Improve the ability to solve problems independently, without the need for constant help from adults.
  • Increase self-confidence and awareness.
  • Encourage communication and socialization with all kinds of people, by acquiring the ability to adequately express one’s own feelings and thoughts.

Therefore, the fact of stimulating creativity in childhood is extremely important for the integral development of children.

1. Creative T-shirts

A good activity to work on creativity with children is to make creative t-shirts. How can it be done? Very easy! You just have to make the following materials available to the little ones:

  • Plain white t-shirts.
  • Special paints for fabric.
  • Brushes.
  • Purpurin.
  • Colored felt or any other material that can be used to decorate clothes.

Then, you just have to give them time so that they can express all their creativity on the shirts.

It is important that, before getting down to work, they think carefully about how they want to do the design. Thus, when creating the shirts, they will be more determined and will be able to check if the final result is similar to the one initially proposed.

2. Create a superhero

Another creative dynamic for children is allowing them to create their own superheroes. To do this, it is necessary to ask them the following question: “If you were a superhero, what would you be like and what superpowers would you have?” .

Starting from this question, the little ones should reflect and write down on a piece of paper all the ideas that come to mind about their ideal superhero, in order to let their imagination run free.

Once they have finished, they must take a pencil and a paper and begin to draw the superhero devised in detail. This can also be done with plasticine or other molding materials.

3. Drawings on the back

A dynamic that stimulates group creativity is to draw pictures on the back. For this game the children have to get in pairs. Thus, while one of them draws, slowly and with his finger, something on his partner’s back, he has to guess what it is and try to capture the same drawing on paper that they have made on his back.

The same process should then be carried out in reverse and repeated as many times as desired. The little ones will have a lot of fun checking out the amazing results of the activity!

On the dynamics of creativity

It is important not to let the creativity of children die, so that their main reference figures, that is, mothers, fathers and educators, must take charge of providing them with moments to express their feelings and thoughts through art and imagination.

For this reason, we recommend putting creativity dynamics into practice such as those described in this article. And you, what are you waiting for to carry them out with your children or with your students? Make the little ones exploit all their creative potential in a fun and enjoyable way!
